Blackberries are handheld wireless devices which have functions much more than the cell phones. It was introduced in 1999 by a Canadian Company Called Research in Motion. They support a whole lot of applications such as mobile telephone, internet faxing, emails, web browsing and text messaging and other wireless information. The Blackberry sends information through Wireless Data networks of various mobile phone service providers.

The Research in Motion Company has created a multi task operating system for Blackberry. This Operating system supports Java and WAP. They also provide synchronization for email and calendar with Microsoft Exchange Server and also with IBM Lotus Domino Server. This means that the users can have Microsoft Outlook as well as Lotus Notes in the same platform.

They are no doubt one of the most advanced machines as far as the mobile technology is concerned. They have the facility to receive emails in real time anywhere and because of this technology they have become so famous. Due to this facility they have often been called as “Crack Berry”. The use of Crack Berry has become so widespread that it has been incorporated in some of the dictionaries.
